Party? Tips how to prepare finger-licking dips!

Thinking of a party? Don’t forget to add dips! Dips have always been a part of healthy eating and vegetarians cookery. People used to pick up vegetables with their fingers and dip into the sauces. Different sauces can accompany each type of vegetable. Homemade dips are particularly delicious, so here are a selection of recipes as a source of inspiration.

Curried honey and Orange Dip

  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Just over 1/2 cup (120 g) mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) creme fraiche
  • 2 heaping tsp curry powder
  • 1 pinch ground coriander seeds
  • 2 tbs orange juice 1 tsp firm honey
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • coarse salt

Mince the garlic and liquidize the remaining ingredients. Serve with blanched cauliflower and poultry.

Curried peanut and Mango dip

  • 100 g peanut without skin
  • coarse salt
  • 1 small onion, 1 garlic clove
  • 1 mango
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds, 2 tsp curry powder
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp honey

Dry roast the peanuts and add salt. Chop the onion and garlic. Juice the mango and crush the coriander seeds. Liquidize 1/4 cup (50 ml) mango juice together with the coriander, curry powder, onion, garlic, peanuts and the mayonnaise. Gradually add the remaining mango juice and sweeten with honey.

Serve with the Belgian endive, poultry and cooked fish.

Herb Dip

  • 1 bunch curly parsley
  • 1/2 bunch dill
  • 5 sprigs thyme
  • 5 sprigs marjoram
  • 1 sprig lovage 1 sprig hyssop
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 pot yogurt
  • 1 pot creme fraiche
  • 2 tbs mayonnaise
  • coarse salt, white pepper

Finely chop the herbs and garlic. Puree with the remaining ingredients and season with white pepper. Serve with any dish.

Carrot and ginger dip

  • A little lemon juice

Dice the carrots and tomatoes. Finely chop the onion and garlic and pan fry in the oil. Add the carrots, tomatoes, ginger and herbs. Liquidize with the cream and add the remaining ingredients. Serve with vegetables and tofu.

  • About (10 g) hazelnuts
  • 1/4 cup (50 ml) balsamic vinegar
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 2 tsp pear juice concentrate
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) mayonnaise
  • nutmeg
  • Coarse salt, black pepper

Dry roast the hazelnuts, rub them between two pieces of paper towel to remove the skins and roughly chop the nuts. Liquidize with the other ingredients and season to taste with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Serve with blanched cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprout.
